Getting Ready for SOLSC ’19

Well, today is another snow/ice day, so I thought I would take advantage of the day to get myself ready for the Slice of Life Story Challenge organized by Two Writing Teachers. If you are not sure of what the Slice of Life is about, check it out at twowritingteachers.org.

I strongly believe that teachers of writing, must be writers.  For the past 3 years, I have taken this challenge to recommit myself as a writer.

Last year I read a post that gave some helpful hints on how to set yourself up for success, so here I go, getting ready!

The first thing I am doing this year is setting up my templates.  I date each entry, and insert the SOL logo.  Those are stored in my drafts, ready to go every morning in March.  Last year I did this, and it helped my stay organized and knowing that a “bare blog” was waiting for me inspired me to write each day.

Next, I will create a list of ideas.  Some days, the fingers don’t glide over the keyboard.  I need some ideas that I can pull from to generate that “spark.” The Slice of Life site does provide daily nudges, but I found having a list of ideas was nice to fall back on when blankness stared back at me from my computer screen.

Well, I’m off to start my idea list!

Happy Slicing!

  1. Every year I say I am going to get organized for the challenge and every year I don’t. This will be my sixth year of not being organized. Oh well I guess I’ll just see where each day takes me. I do like your planning strategy.
