Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday to my amazing youngest child! The one who has been my side kick for most of her life. She has always been a mama’s girl. She would hardly let me out of her sight; we nicknamed her Monkey because she would cling to me like a baby monkey would cling to its mom.

I savor this year because it is her last in elementary. I know how harsh middle school can be, so I am grateful she got one more year in elementary school. She has grown up so much this year.

Thus this has become a year of “last times…” The last Halloween parade. The last Christmas program. The last grade level concert. And yesterday was, the last time she would bring a birthday treat to share with her classmates.

April brings the last Daddy Daughter dance, May the last field trip, and June the last time having class in elementary school. Oh, where does the time go?

  1. I’m so glad you wrote this! Growing up is bittersweet for everyone. I love that your “little monkey” is making her way through a final year in elementary school with lots of love and support. Next year will be one of “firsts.”
